Recording Keystrokes or Pasting Text in the Multitouch Application
Sometimes you encounter tedious tasks that require you to simply type the same text into a bunch of different places, and copying and pasting just isn't quite enough to handle the situation. Now in the Multitouch mac application there are two options that can help you out: keystroke recording and text pasting. Both of these options can be bound to a gesture or a keyboard shortcut for quick access.
If you have already used this application before, setting up either of these features should be fairly straightforward. Both of them can be selected under the "Keyboard Shortcut and Key Input" category. For keystroke recording, start by selecting the text area that appears, and then type the keystrokes on your keyboard. For "Paste Text," simply place the desired text into the text area and you are ready to go.
A few things you need to know about keystroke recording:
When entering keystrokes, you simply need to be aware that this is not regular text input — it will record every single keystroke you make, including the delete or backspace key.
Additionally, modifier flags are recorded even if you do not see them displayed in the text area. This means that it can act as a sort of compound keyboard shortcut recorder, although that is not its intended purpose. It is also worth keeping in mind that recorded keystrokes will be played back without any time delay, regardless of the time you spent entering those keystrokes. If you perform the configured gesture or shortcut for the keystroke recorder after you download multitouch and set it up, you will notice that all of the keystrokes are played back sequentially one after another, rather than all at once simultaneously.
