Upon arriving at the nearest settlement, you can rest, repair the car (either by yourself or at a workshop), purchase an upgrade for the vehicle, acquire a perk for the main character, accept and complete a quest, go fishing, trade with local residents, or head out on a scavenging run for supplies.

Nearly all of these activities and road events function as mini-games on Mac. In them, you typically have to fight zombies in an improvised arena, shoot down the undead or bandits from behind cover, ram hostile bikers with your car, or flee from zombie deer. Among these diversions, you can even encounter battles with mini-bosses.
